Flower Essences 101

Feel & Flow Flower Elixirs are a fusion of flower essences + deeeelightful white light reiki vibes.

They are simply dropped on the tongue or can be added to your water, tea, coffee, juice or smoothie. I feel like I’m leaving you hanging, I know you’re wondering if they can be added to your fave cocktail…so, let me clear that up. Yes, yes they can if that’s how you roll!

Firstly, let’s get straight on what flower essences are not:

  • They aren’t essential oils. They have no scent.

  • They aren’t herbal tinctures. They have no taste, and wait for it…they actually contain no physical plant material. Say whaat?! We’ll get to more on that soon.

  • They are not a therapeutic treatment for mental health disorders. Please, please engage a professional in this area.

    • But they do beautifully support practitioner protocols and are safe to take with complementary and prescription medicines.

Flower essences aren’t a modern, new-age creation. There are accounts they were used by the ancient Egyptians and during the Middle Ages, and in the 15th century physicians and alchemists would collect the dew from wild flowers to help balance the emotional ailments of their patients.

And yes, as mentioned above, they don’t contain any physical plant material but once specially prepared they do contain the energetic imprint (or life-force) of the flower. The flower’s vibrational frequency.

What emotional & energetic shifts can flower essences make?

This botanically sourced energetic force can have subtle, yet profound, effects on our emotions. Flower essences help shift and clear stuck energy, helping us to move through emotions. They have a unique way of working with our modern souls, helping us to find balance between the head and the heart. This can be experienced in a number of ways:

  • Emotional awareness, flexibility & resilience

  • Awareness of our physical body

    • How is our body communicating our emotions? Do we feel tightness in the chest, are we mindlessly eating, is our stomach churning, our heart racing ? With more awareness we can assess what these symptoms are telling us about our emotional being.

  • Connection to nature

    • Being botanical essences, flower essences can awaken and deepen our relationship with nature and Mother Earth.

  • Enlighten and guide us to understand our purpose

    • An example may be questioning our job and the work we do, does this align with our purpose, values and personal nature? The exciting thing is, if we arrive at a realisation it doesn’t we aren’t necessarily at a fork in the road, tasked with deciding whether we quit or face eternal dissatisfaction!

    • Flower essences work with our emotions in wonderous ways. They may be the catalyst we need to see things from a fresh perpspective, to approach the ‘job we hate/that’s just not us’ with a fresh attitude and creative energy. Despite the ‘dull 9-5’ we may find ourselves in, perhaps we still find a way to live our purpose, maybe we promote love and connection by implementing different initiatives in our workplace, cultivating a supportive, joyful culture! Nice, gotta love that ripple effect!!

  • Awaken our soul!

    • Wooohooo! Have I finally ticked over into too woo-woo for you? Please, please read on and then decide!

    • When our emotions are in harmony there is more possibility for an enhanced sense of the subtle dimensions in life. We see the good in everyone, our lives are enriched with creativity…and feelings of gratitude? Spiking off the charts!

  • Deeper relationships

    • We have greater self awareness, we can acknowledge hurt and work through it rather than react to it. We are compassionate, can speak our truth and create boundaries and healthy relationships.

  • We seek & express our spirituality, whatever that may mean to each of us

So, to sum it up, it’s simple: you need flower essences in your life. Period. Kidding…but I absolutely do encourage you to give them a try.

How does taking flower essences feel?

Short term many people describe feeling like they are more in flow. Less irritated, stressed and overwhelmed or perhaps notice they have more bandwidth or resilience to work through these emotions. This is similar to what can be experienced with regular meditation, too.

Flower essences don’t suppress emotions, rather they match the energetic frequency of the less desirable emotion, be that worry, jealousy, etc and they flood the body with all the good energetic vibes letting those lower vibe emotions shift, rise up and flow. The result? Transformational emotional alchemy!

And, if you join the flower essence fan club you may start to notice some super sweet karmic magick! You’ll be doing a double-take as you catch yourself trying new things, birthing new creative ideas, finding confidence and embracing authenticity, moving on from relationships that no longer align with your energetic flow, finding new ones that do!

And just so you’re clear, all this is already within you, you beautiful soul! These energetic essences are simply nudging you in all the right directions.

Just checking…are there any potential side effects?

Some people find in the first few days they may sleep more deeply than usual as emotions are moved, unstuck or released. If you do experience this know that it’s subtle and part of the healing process. As flower essences are working on our energetic body we can be sensitive to emotional shifts and may potentially feel a little ‘out of sorts’ as we transition to being ‘in sorts’! Welcome these feelings and embrace the wonder of your energetic body working with vibrational energy of nature.

Now, I guess you’re just left wondering…how long will it take for me to experience all of this flower essence fabulousness?

Some Elixirs will work immediately, Freakin’ Out is definitely one you can stop and drop on spot! As are Ground Me & Calm Balm. But for longer term challenges, changes or emotional situations or states allow 2 - 4 weeks to feel the flow as the effects are cumulative. When taken as suggested, 7 drops AM & PM, each bottle will last around 40 days.
